Marshall-Harrison County Health District is continuing its Building Healthy Futures classes with the Summer Safety Series this June. Classes in June will focus on practical, life-saving skills to help keep children and families safe throughout the summer months.
The first class, Water Safety, will be held Thursday, June 11, at 1:00 p.m. at the Marshall Fire Department Central Station at 601 S. Grove. The session will focus on essential water safety education, including drowning prevention, boating safety, life jacket use, supervision tips, emergency response, and recognizing hazards in pools, lakes, and open water. Presenters include Marshall Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief Randall Jeans, Scott Robertson with Texas State Parks Police, and Texas Game Wardens.
The second class, Hands-Only CPR Training, will take place Thursday, June 25, at 1:00 p.m. at the Marshall Public Library, at 300 S. Alamo. Led by Sarah Jeter with the American Red Cross, the training is open to ages 14 and older and will teach participants how to respond during a cardiac emergency using hands-only CPR techniques. Note: This is not a certification and is for informational purposes only. Class size is limited to 20 participants. Registration is required, and an adult must attend with anyone under the age of 18.
“Summer is a time for families to enjoy activities together, but it’s also important to be prepared for emergencies,” said Jennifer Hancock, Executive Director of Marshall-Harrison County Health District. “These classes provide practical, life-saving skills that can make a difference in our community.”
