Marshall-Harrison County Health District invites community members to attend two upcoming Building Healthy Futures educational classes designed to help residents live healthier, safer lives through education and community resources.
The first class, Navigating Aging, will be held on Thursday, July 30, at 1:00 p.m. in the Gold Room at the Marshall Public Library. Presented by the Area Agency on Aging of East Texas, this free educational program is designed for older adults, caregivers, and family members interested in learning about services that support healthy living.
Participants will learn about evidence-based intervention programs that promote wellness, help prevent falls, support chronic disease self-management, and improve overall quality of life. Attendees will also enjoy a nutritious snack provided during the class.
As part of the program, the Area Agency on Aging will conduct a brief community survey to gather feedback on the types of aging-related classes and services residents would like to see offered in Marshall and Harrison County. Community input will help shape future educational opportunities to better meet local needs.
The second class, Medication Matters, will be held on Thursday, August 27, at 1:00 p.m. in the Gold Room at the Marshall Public Library. This free class led by Genesis PrimeCare will provide practical information to help individuals safely manage their medications and become more confident healthcare consumers.
Pharmacist David Palmer will discuss how to create and maintain an up-to-date medication list, safely store medications at home and while traveling, how to understand prescription labels, and how the 340B Prescription Assistance Program can help make medications more affordable.
"Building Healthy Futures is about connecting our community with trusted resources that support health and well-being at every stage of life," said Jennifer Hancock, Executive Director of the Marshall-Harrison County Health District. "Whether you're planning for healthy aging or learning how to better manage your medications, our next two classes will provide practical tools and local resources."
Both classes are free and open to the public. Registration is recommended.
